It's even better when they come with a "thank you" message. I'm lucky because I don't need to ask my boss to do that, but I wouldn't hesitate to ask him about that. I agree strongly with your 'say it now' and 'say thank you' posts. I think it also helps to allow 'the thanked one' to know that your words of praise are read/heard by the eyes/ears of 'people who matter'. I use 'weekly messages' which the team and senior stakeholders receive. It's the 'project newspaper' and always a great motivator for your team members to see their names in lights. Nice blog!
