I’ll be speaking at the next Krakow .NET Developers Group meeting on Thursday. I was planning to speak next month, but I was asked to be an emergency speaker this month after one of presenters informed hosts he couldn’t make it. Of course I agreed, but I wouldn’t be me if I hadn’t drawn conclusions from the situation.
First it’s good to have some people to count on. You usually earn them when they can count on you too.
Second it’s just so hard to mobilize yourself unless you see some kind of goal or deadline. There is very limited number of things you do only for pleasure of doing them. Preparing a presentation is definitely none of those. I’ve already had an idea in my mind, but unless it wasn’t for someday in the future it was hard to force myself even to write down ideas. Now I ended up having several days to prepare myself instead of several weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t complain. It’s just an observation.
By the way if you are in Krakow on Thursday 22nd and you speak Polish, come and join us. I’ll be speaking about career paths for developers.
