Ethics Dilemma

by Pawel Brodzinski on September 9, 2008

Craig Brown brings an ethics dilemma for project managers. How you would act if you had a team member from Afghanistan or Vietnam and your company had won multi-million dollar project for US agency. Would you as a PM let the team member go to follow US law or decline the contract or maybe break the law?

I think the question isn’t addressed well. When a company wins a multi-million dollar contract no one asks project manager about problematic person. The decision is made way higher by senior management.

For me the question is different. What would you do if your bosses decided one of your team members will be moved somewhere else for non-merit reasons? Just to keep this big deal done according to US law. You’re a PM and someone answered the question brought by Craig. Would you get over it and just do what you’re paid for? Would you try to do something else? What?
